Re: The US military industrial complex and buddhism.

Some Buddhists sacrifice their principles when they see a politician that they like for whatever reasons or matches their political ideology, otherwise.

For the most part, I've noticed that Buddhists tend to be anti-war, both the liberals and conservatives, with some exceptions.

The U.S. is capitalist, however, its leaders often deviate from that into leftist imperialism, corporate welfare, arms races, etc, which are all antithetical to capitalism.

Re: What is this anti vacination movement about?

Lol! Which US presidents were peaceful capitalists? George Bush Sr & Jr? Johnson? Obama? Clinton? Reagen? Do you realise how many wars US capitalists have started directly or by proxy? Just as bad and even worse than communists. When have I ever defended current or past U.S. presidents? You continu...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

Nonsense. The crony capitalism, wars, colonialism and oppression of workers is against the 5 precepts, right livelihood, right speech etc. What planet are you living on? When have I supported crony capitalism? I have never supported crony capitalism. That is government corporate welfare, not capitalism.

Re: What is this anti vacination movement about?

As a Buddhist do you not see how much blood and oppression the state has on its hands? Yes, of course and I oppose all of those leftist imperialist efforts at empire making, empire building. Capitalists are opposed to wars, interventionism, and foreign entanglements. There are the obvious compassio...

Re: The left serves the establishment

A state has a monopoly on violence, taxation and therefore wealth/ capital. Every single called leftist or communist state was just a giant corporation with the masses its employees. Thus fleecing the wealth created by workers to create more capital to solidify their elite state. That's what communi...

Re: What is this anti vacination movement about?

Tremendously naive! Capitalism does not support economic freedom for all. . It supports freedom for oligipolies and mega business and the state, for the already rich tiny minority I support freedom from the state. Human freedom to decide for oneself. Tremendously naive! You must have never tried act...

Re: The left serves the establishment

The far left may pretend to redistribute wealth, but they are still state capitalists,in bed with bankers and the military. No non capitalist government exists. A monopoly on taxes makes each state a concentrator of wealth, ergo capitalist. There were plenty of non-capitalist countries in the past, n...

Re: What is this anti vacination movement about?

Keep your masks, fascist rules, bogus science and chemicals. Since when in the past did people isolate when they had a cold? Since when did people having NO symptoms become carrier's of disease?!! You notice many states are fully open. Sweden didn't lock down. And sporting events involving money have...

Re: Should Capitalism be outgrown?

The Buddha did not speak out against capitalism. Yes, the term was not around then, but it was basically the same system of private property rights, mercantilism, trade, even banks and bankers. The Buddha had numerous capitalist benefactors and he never condemned their livelihoods. Socialism and com...

And both are greedy capitalist, power hungry, money and influence chasing immoralists.
How are leftists capitalists? By definition, they are not capitalist, at least not the far-left.

Re: Tent City?

Thanks, David. That is what I thought too. So what could be the solution in your opinion? Some potential solutions to my list above: 1. Tiny homes, like this Las Vegas based company: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViyucP0KHx0&t=6s 2. Perhaps some tax or other incentives to encourage landlords and ...

Re: Tent City?

No one single factor can explain why there is so much homelessness. It's a combination of at least two or more of the following, in my opinion: 1. Sky high housing costs, which are currently still going up. 2. Lack of affordable apartments (my business is in this industry and I see new companies buy...

Like a meme stock; can go up and down through manipulation by redditt users and other groups. It sounds very risky and can't even be used in most places to purchase anything.

Re: Is it really liberal/progressive to offer free college?

Another proposal the Biden Administration is seriously considering is to wipe out all student tuition debt. But how about the students who worked hard, maybe even two jobs, plus a full time student load and paid off all their debts? Since there is no debt for them to wipe out, would the government g...

Is it really liberal/progressive to offer free college?

Most of my adult life, I've supported free college education, for those who go and make acceptable grades, at least through the bachelor's degree. However, Bill Maher makes good points in this video. Is it really progressive to make the middle and lower classes who didn't go to college to pay for ot...

bitcoins for pizza

Saw this, from finance news this morning: Almost exactly 11 years ago, a hungry programmer traded 10K bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas. Even with BTC's recent plunge, those would've been worth $350M+ today. We hope he got extra cheese. At the time, each bitcoin was probably only pennies in value ...

Re: liberal/progressive hypocrisy?

Nothing wrong with Obama and others living in a nice house, if they can afford it. It could by hypocritical though if they are climate activists against global warming, sea levels risings and live in oceanfront homes. Unless they are just so super-rich and don't care if their home will be flooded wi...
