What is QAnon?
Question to moderators. Can I post this in Dhamma wheel under the wellness, diet, and fitness section?

I haven't watched the video, but it sounds too political for Dhamma Wheel.

Neither have I watched it, yet families being split over fill-in-the-blank is as old as humanity.

However, if reporting a family member to the government is becoming more common in USA, then Stalin, Mao & other dictators must be smiling in Hell.

If a family member threaten of your life, I think we have to take the matter to the police.

QAnon, or simply Q, is a discredited far-right conspiracy theory alleging that a cabal of Satanic, cannibalistic pedophiles run a global child sex trafficking ring and conspired against former President Donald Trump during his term in office. QAnon is commonly

Greetings,

I haven't watched the video immediately above beyond the first couple of minutes as it's typical 60 Minutes sensationalism, but the thing I found most interesting about the mere existence of such pieces in 2021, is that even though:

- The Q account has not even posted anything online since 9th December 2020
- Social media did a massive purge of "anon" accounts in January 2021
- Donald Trump is out of office

... the mainstream media are still apparently terrified of it and desperate to crush and pathologize it.

At this point are they fake news or just old news?

How about both? - old fake news.

For me, QAnon is new news.
:D
I never heard of them before except the White house incident.
I thought QAnon is the name of one of the protesters!

Lol, um, no.

For what it's worth,I've never seen anyone trace "the White House incident" back to anything Q ever posted, and per the timelines I gave you above, the most recent Q post is about a month older than "the White House incident" so it seems like a pretty baseless accusation to me.

As for any influences (real or contrived) of the participants in that drama, it was confusing at the time and there are still many unknowns. Even within the past week there's been allegations and counter-allegations etc. in the media about who was involved and why.

Lol. No, that's some guy called Jake Angeli.

Just as Buddhists do and espouse things that often bear little or no correlation to what the historical Buddha did, so too here.

It can be. Sometimes it's just ignorance, sometimes it's people wanting a bit of tittilation when they are too lazy to research the facts. Confirmation bias is endemic with these people.
Not sure how this is relevant to Buddhism though, unless it's conspiracies about devious Abhidhamikas smuggling Hindu ideas into the suttas.
